LWDT Black History Month Concert

LWDT is proud to present these classic works as part of our 45th Anniversary moving to 50 and beyond.
Join us for Resistance, Resilience, Triumph 2025 Reflections in Dance Black History with classic ballets choreographed by black dance legends Donald McKayle, Talley Beatty, Donald Byrd, and Rennie Harris, along with works by Tamica Washington-Miller. This inspiring performance celebrates the beauty of African American cultural heritage through classic modern dance.

IABD Conference in Pittsburgh, PA
January 25, 2025
LWDT will perform at the historic Benedum Center for the Performing Arts as part of the annual Conference and Festival for the International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD); of which LWDT is a founding member. We will share the stage with Legendary and Contemporary Black Dance Companies. In True Fashion Lula will bring something very different, some things to say, and “Something To Think About”, her tribute to her former teacher, Post Modern, Choreographer and trailblazer of his time, Rudy Perez.

LWDT celebrates its 45th anniversary with the premiere of Lula Washington’s Something to Think About, a Tribute to Rudy Perez. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the evening will include “Words from Martin” from The Movement.
