Levels and Placement
The Lula Washington Dance Theatre School offers classes to students of all ages and levels. We train in a variety of dance styles, including modern, jazz, ballet, African dance, and tap.
Tiny Tots
Tiny Tots C (ages 3-6): New to dance. No experience required.
Tiny Tots B (ages 4-8): Matriculated out of Tiny Tots C or returning students of Tiny Tots B. Preparing to enter Tiny Tots A.
Tiny Tots A (ages 5-10): Matriculated out of Tiny Tots B. Preparing to enter Pre Steps Level 1. Invitation only.
Pre Steps
Pre Steps Level 1 (ages 7-15): First time dance experience. 7-10 year-olds with no dance experience will be assessed and may be placed in Tiny Tots.
Pre Steps Level 2 (ages 8-15): Beginning to intermediate students with 1-2 years dance experience.
Pre Steps 3 (ages 10-18): Beginning to advanced students.
Adults
Adults (18+): Beginning to advanced students.
LWDT believes that every student should be provided with training that gives them a strong foundation in dance technique. As such, placement in classes is at the discretion of our instructors.
Single Classes
Annual semester registration: $60
Single class with registration: $15
Single class without registration: $20
10-Class Package
10-Class Card: $150
Good for 10 weeks from the date of purchase
Unlimited Classes
Tiny Tots Unlimited Card: $175/month
Pre Steps Unlimited Card: $200/month
Adults Unlimited Card: $200/month
Class information
- No refunds
- Dance cards must be shown before each class as proof of payment
- Lost monthly dance cards can be replaced for a fee of $5
- Scholarships are available for students ages 7-21 based on need
- Do not wear jewelry or hair decorations in any classes
- Students who are 10 minutes late must observe class for that hour
- Class schedule is subject to change without notice
- Studio is closed on major holidays
